The gallery was established in 1983 in High St Armadale and moved to the current location in Carlton in January, 1986.

Over the last 40 years we have held regular catalogue exhibitions of museum quality Early Australian Paintings, Watercolours, Drawings and Prints; Modern Australian Paintings and Graphics; Artists Exhibiting in London 1880 - 1940; Australian Women Artists; Post War Realist Artists from St. Petersburg, Ukraine, Crimea and Siberia in conjunction with our good friend John Barkes in the UK; and an annual Christmas exhibition where everything is priced under $2000

Solo exhibitions have included John Glover, Sidney Nolan, Clifford Bayliss, Mary Hammond, Vic O'Connor, Jan Senbergs, Celia Perceval, Brigid Cole-Adams, Jeff Ferris, Joyce Meier, Lucy Boyd, Eric Thake, Shay Docking, Mary Macqueen, Barry Dickins, and Nada Hunter.
