In the run-up to the Melbourne Rare Book Fair, you will find details of the rich selection of accompanying events organised by Rare Books Melbourne and our parent organisation the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB).

Reflections on this year’s Australian and New Zealand Rare Book School (ANZRBS) highlight the importance of provenance research. If bookplates or bibliography are your passions (we hope they are), then you will find updates from the New Australian Bookplate Society and the Bibliographical Society of Australia and New Zealand.

Our ‘Collectors’ Corner’ segment features short articles on two fascinating Japanese printed items published over 1100 years apart. And Kay Craddock reflects on the remarkable milestone of her sixtieth year as a bookseller.

We hope you enjoy this issue. If you have a story relating old, curious and beautiful books, please let us know.
